The Maule is unique for its wide speed range and STOL performance. A cruise speed, which is up to 4.1 times the stall speed, is a ratio that is virtually unmatched in any other high wing, strut braced, fixed gear aircraft. This STOL performance is due to a combination of large flaps, high lift airfoil, constant speed propeller, low wing loading and high power-to-weight ratio.
